A FIRM FOUNDATION

“For the king trusts in the LORD;
through the unfailing love of the Most High
he will not be shaken.”

                Psalm 21:7

Sometimes events happen in our lives that leave us shaken: A company where you have worked for the past 25 years asks you to leave in the name of downsizing. A spouse tells you over breakfast that “this isn’t working out.” The results from the medical test come back with the word “malignant.”

Such times not only test our resilience and ability to cope — they also test our faith.

Throughout the Bible, we find men and women who have had their faith severely shaken. Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers, taken to a foreign land, and later imprisoned under false accusations. Hannah cried out in her barrenness for a child. Certainly David went through numerous trials — his repeated cries for relief from his enemies and afflictions fill the pages of the Psalms.

Each one, however, overcame their circumstances and emerged victorious. Joseph became second in command to the Pharaoh. Hannah gave birth to a son. David defeated all his enemies and remained on the throne. Though shaken, they never faltered. Though tested, they remained faithful. Their trust was firmly planted in the “unfailing love of the Most High.”

Despite the human tendency to do so, David did not trust in his own ability or his prowess on the battlefield. He didn’t consider the throne of Israel as something he deserved or something he had earned. David knew that all he had were gifts from God — his heart’s desire, success and prosperity, a crown of pure gold, long life, unending blessings.

And it was all, as we discover in Psalm 21, because the king trusts in the Lord.”  Because of that trust, David knew that God’s love would protect and sustain him. While events in his life might leave him shaken, God would not let him stumble and fall.

The same is true for us. At times it might not feel like God is there at all. But consider all the good gifts that you have. Look for the many ways that God has sustained you — maybe through the kindness of a friend, or an unexpected check. It might be through His word that tells you He will hold you in his everlasting arms.

When the foundation of your world is seemingly crumbling around you, remember God’s love for you will never be shaken.

Wisdom's Call

Does not wisdom call out?
   Does not understanding raise her voice?
At the highest point along the way,
   where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
beside the gate leading into the city,
   at the entrance, she cries aloud:
“To you, O people, I call out;
   I raise my voice to all mankind.
You who are simple, gain prudence;
   you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.
Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say;
   I open my lips to speak what is right.
My mouth speaks what is true,
   for my lips detest wickedness.
All the words of my mouth are just;
   none of them is crooked or perverse.
To the discerning all of them are right;
   they are upright to those who have found knowledge.
Choose my instruction instead of silver,
   knowledge rather than choice gold,
for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
   and nothing you desire can compare with her.
 “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence;
   I possess knowledge and discretion.
To fear the LORD is to hate evil;
   I hate pride and arrogance,
   evil behavior and perverse speech.
Counsel and sound judgment are mine;
   I have insight, I have power.
By me kings reign
   and rulers issue decrees that are just;
by me princes govern,
   and nobles—all who rule on earth.
I love those who love me,
   and those who seek me find me.
With me are riches and honor,
   enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than fine gold;
   what I yield surpasses choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness,
   along the paths of justice,
bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me
   and making their treasuries full.
 “The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works,
   before his deeds of old;
I was formed long ages ago,
   at the very beginning, when the world came to be.
When there were no watery depths, I was given birth,
   when there were no springs overflowing with water;
before the mountains were settled in place,
   before the hills, I was given birth,
before he made the world or its fields
   or any of the dust of the earth.
I was there when he set the heavens in place,
   when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
when he established the clouds above
   and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
when he gave the sea its boundary
   so the waters would not overstep his command,
and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
Then I was constantly at his side.
I was filled with delight day after day,
   rejoicing always in his presence,
rejoicing in his whole world
   and delighting in mankind.
 “Now then, my children, listen to me;
   blessed are those who keep my ways.
Listen to my instruction and be wise;
   do not disregard it.
Blessed are those who listen to me,
   watching daily at my doors,
   waiting at my doorway.
For those who find me find life
   and receive favor from the LORD.
But those who fail to find me harm themselves;
   all who hate me love death.”
                Proverbs 8

Wisdom
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wPfKI2HOfgc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
   Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
                Proverbs 4:7

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.  But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.  Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.  For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
                James 3:13-18

God understands the way to wisdom
   and he alone knows where it dwells,
for he views the ends of the earth
   and sees everything under the heavens.
When he established the force of the wind
   and measured out the waters,
when he made a decree for the rain
   and a path for the thunderstorm,
then he looked at wisdom and appraised it;
   he confirmed it and tested it.
And he said to the human race,
   “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom,
   and to shun evil is understanding.”
                Job 28:23-28

Forever - Michael W Smith
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3lPdtqgouCc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
                Romans 6:3-10

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.
                I Corinthians 15:3-9

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
                I Peter 1:3-9

Great Expectations - Steven Curtis Chapman
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/gWdINjAmP6g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here are just a few examples of Great Expectations:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
                John 3:16

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
                Romans 5:8-11

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.  And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
               John 14:1-4

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
                II Corinthians 4:16-18

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
                John 16:33

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
                I John 4:4

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”  “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
                I Corinthians 15:51-57

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
                Romans 8:16-17

“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.  Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also.
                John 15:18-20

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.  For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.  Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.  If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
                John 13:14-17

And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
                Luke 9:23

Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
                II Timothy 3:12

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.  Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.  And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.
                II Corinthians 1:3-7

Now godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.  And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.  But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
                I Timothy 6:6-9

Be content with such things as you have.  For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."  So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear.  What can man do to me?"
                Hebrews 13:5-6

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.  Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
                John 15:1-4

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.  For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
                I Thessalonians 4:13-17

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.
                Ephesians 1:18-19

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
                Romans 8:28

If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
                Romans 8:31-32

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
                Romans 8:38-39

BRING THE RAIN

Bring the Rain - Mercy Me
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/m17af0XmPFo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.

GOOD NEWS - GOD'S POWER TO SAVE

El Shaddai (Live) - Amy Grant
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jy5XA4SwuPg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

      Your most awesome work was done
               through the frailty of your son.

For I am not ashamed of the good news, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes
                Romans 1:16

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
                Romans 3:23

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
                Romans 2: 1-4

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.  All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.  But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
                Ephesians 2: 1-10

 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
                Romans 6:23

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
                Romans 5:8

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
                John 3:16

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
                Romans 10: 9 & 10

In Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
                Ephesians 1:7

The attributes of God are characterized by the "riches of His grace." This amazing grace led Him to shed His blood as the price of our redemption.
Familiar acrostic for GRACE--"God's Riches at Christ's Expense."

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich.
                 II Corinthians 8:9

The riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering.
                Romans 2:4

Make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of  His mercy"
                Romans 9:23

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
                Romans 11:33
The unsearchable riches of Christ
                Ephesians 3:8

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.
                Ephesians 1:18

God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, . . . That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus
                Ephesians 2:4-5, 7

SING HALLELUJAH TO THE LORD

Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
                Revelation 19:6

Praise the LORD.
   Praise God in His sanctuary;
   Praise Him in His mighty heavens.
Praise Him for His acts of power;
   Praise Him for His surpassing greatness.
Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet,
   Praise Him with the harp and lyre,
Praise Him with timbrel and dancing,
   Praise Him with the strings and pipe,
Praise Him with the clash of cymbals,
   Praise Him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath Praise the LORD.
   Praise the LORD.

BE STILL MY SOUL

    As the deer pants for the water brooks,
         So pants my soul for You, O God.

   My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
         When shall I come and appear before God?
  My tears have been my food day and night,
         While they continually say to me,
         “Where is your God?”

 When I remember these things,
         I pour out my soul within me.
         For I used to go with the multitude;
         I went with them to the house of God,
         With the voice of joy and praise,
         With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.

 Why are you cast down, O my soul?
         And why are you disquieted within me?
         Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
         For the help of His countenance.

 O my God, my soul is cast down within me;
         Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan,
         And from the heights of Hermon,
         From the Hill Mizar.

  Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls;
         All Your waves and billows have gone over me.
 The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime,
         And in the night His song shall be with me—
         A prayer to the God of my life.

  I will say to God my Rock,
         “Why have You forgotten me?
         Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
  As with a breaking of my bones,
         My enemies reproach me,
         While they say to me all day long,
         “Where is your God?”

    Why are you cast down, O my soul?
         And why are you disquieted within me?
         Hope in God;
         For I shall yet praise Him,
         The help of my countenance and my God.

CHRIST MADE ALL THINGS

By faith, I believe Christ made all things  .   .   .  I believe what the Bible says about WHO created or made all things is accurate and I believe that "without Him nothing was made that was made".

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
                John 1:1-3

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
                Genesis 1:1

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
                Genesis 1:3

Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”
                Genesis 1:6

Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.
                Genesis 1:9

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.
                Genesis 1:11

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.
                Genesis 1:14-15

Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.  He made the stars also.
                Genesis 1:16

Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above
the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind.
                Genesis 1:20-21

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.
                Genesis 1:24

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;  .  .  .  So God created man in His Own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
                Genesis 1:26, 27

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
                Genesis 2:7

Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
                Genesis 2:22

Think about the one thing that you have put the majority of your personal effort, passion, time, work and desire into; the one thing that you take the greatest pride in, up to now in your life.  Is it your education?  Is it the quality of your relationships?  Is it your purposeful work as a parent?  Is it a significant business or financial accomplishment?  Perhaps you have achieved outstanding success in sports.  Maybe you are an artist.  Perhaps you are gifted in using your hands and you are very creative.  Perhaps you have written some outstanding works.

What is the greatest accomplishment in your life, so far?

Now, think about how you would feel if other people explained this 'work', to which you had committed the majority of your life, by describing it as an 'accident', or the result of several 'random events', or as having come about through 'natural selection', or that your accomplishment was, in fact, the 'work' or accomplishment of some other person?

And, as a part of their explanation, regarding your greatest personal accomplishment, others specifically denied you the credit for what you had achieved; credit which was rightly yours.

Honestly, how would you feel?

CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE - THE WONDROUS WORKS OF CHRIST

"GOD OF WONDERS"
<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/t7F-B2DLvAQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

"For He looks to the ends of the earth, and sees under the whole heaven; To make the weight for the winds; and He weighs the waters by measure."
                Job 28:24-25

Air actually has weight.  The two fluids of air and water forming earth's atmosphere and hydrosphere are both weighed by God's careful measure to provide the right worldwide balance of forces for life on earth.

"Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of Him which is perfect in knowledge?"
                Job 37:16

Clouds are composed of liquid drops of water, not water vapor, and water is heavier than air, so how are they balanced in the sky?

"For He makes small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: Which the clouds do drop and distill upon man abundantly"
                Job 36:27-28

Meteorologists know that the weight of the small water droplets in the clouds is balanced by the weight of the winds -- air rushing upward in response to temperature changes. Eventually, however, the droplets coalesce to form larger drops which overcome these updrafts and fall as rain.

"By watering He wearies the thick cloud"
                Job 37:11

The coalescence is probably triggered electrically in the clouds themselves.

"When He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder"
                Job 28:26

"Lo, these are parts of His ways: but how little a portion is heard of Him? But the thunder of His power who can understand?"
                Job 26:14

"Ah Lord GOD! behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for You"
                Jeremiah 32:17

God did create the cosmos in all its macroscopic complexity and all the living kinds with their microscopic complexity.

"I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for Me?"
                Jeremiah 32:27

"He that planted the ear, shall He not hear?  He that formed the eye, shall He not see?"
                Psalm 94:9

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork"
                Psalm 19:1

"Who knows not in all these that the hand of the LORD has done this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind"
                Job 12:9-10

"The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life"
                Job 33:4

He "rides upon the heavens of heavens"
                Psalm 68:33

He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters, Who makes the clouds His chariot, Who walks on the wings of the wind.
                Psalm 104:3

And He rode upon a cherub, and flew; He flew upon the wings of the wind.
                Psalm 18:10

"The LORD has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet".
                Nahum 1:3

"I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom I wanted.
                Jeremiah 27:5

"The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness of it".
                Psalm 24:1

"The LORD has made all things for Himself".
                Proverbs 16:4

"And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. . . . And God called the firmament Heaven"
                Genesis 1:6, 8

This firmament obviously could not be a solid boundary above the sky, but is essentially the atmosphere.

The "first heaven," the "space" where the birds were to "fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven"
                Genesis 1:20

"And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth"
                Genesis 1:17

All three heavens "declare the glory of God" and all three firmaments "show His handiwork"
                Psalm 19:1

Therefore, we should "praise God in His sanctuary" and also "praise Him in the firmament of His power"
                Psalm 150:1

“Behold, God is great, and we do not know HimNor can the number of His years be discovered.  For He draws up drops of water, which distill as rain from the mist, which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man.  Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of clouds, the thunder from His canopy?  Look, He scatters His light upon it, and covers the depths of the sea.  For by these He judges the peoples; He gives food in abundance.  He covers His hands with lightning, and commands it to strike.  His thunder declares it, the cattle also, concerning the rising storm.
                Job 36: 26-33

“At this also my heart trembles,
      And leaps from its place.
 Hear attentively the thunder of His voice,
      And the rumbling that comes from His mouth.
 He sends it forth under the whole heaven,
      His lightning to the ends of the earth.
 After it a voice roars;
      He thunders with His majestic voice,
      And He does not restrain them when His voice is heard.
 God thunders marvelously with His voice;
      He does great things which we cannot comprehend.
 For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’;
      Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.
 He seals the hand of every man,
      That all men may know His work.
 The beasts go into dens,
      And remain in their lairs.
 From the chamber of the south comes the whirlwind,
      And cold from the scattering winds of the north.
 By the breath of God ice is given,
      And the broad waters are frozen.
 Also with moisture He saturates the thick clouds;
      He scatters His bright clouds.
 And they swirl about, being turned by His guidance,
      That they may do whatever He commands them
      On the face of the whole earth.
 He causes it to come,
      Whether for correction,
      Or for His land,
      Or for mercy.
 “Listen to this, O Job;
      Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.
 Do you know when God dispatches them,
      And causes the light of His cloud to shine?
 Do you know how the clouds are balanced,
      Those wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge?
 Why are your garments hot,
      When He quiets the earth by the south wind?
 With Him, have you spread out the skies,
      Strong as a cast metal mirror?
 “Teach us what we should say to Him,
      For we can prepare nothing because of the darkness.
 Should He be told that I wish to speak?
      If a man were to speak, surely he would be swallowed up.
 Even now men cannot look at the light when it is bright in the skies,
      When the wind has passed and cleared them.
 He comes from the north as golden splendor;
      With God is awesome majesty.
 As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him;
      He is excellent in power,
      In judgment and abundant justice;
      He does not oppress.
 Therefore men fear Him;
      He shows no partiality to any who are wise of heart.”
                Job 37

You Who laid the foundations of the earth, so that it should not be moved forever.
                Psalm 104:5

 When He established the clouds above,
      When He strengthened the fountains of the deep,
 When He assigned to the sea its limit,
      So that the waters would not transgress His command,
      When He marked out the foundations of the earth,
 Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman;
      And I was daily His delight,
      Rejoicing always before Him
                Proverbs 8:28-30

And you forget the LORD your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth
                Isaiah 51:13

 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
      Tell Me, if you have understanding.
   Who determined its measurements?
      Surely you know!
      Or who stretched the line upon it?
   To what were its foundations fastened?
      Or who laid its cornerstone,
   When the morning stars sang together,
      And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
 “Or who shut in the sea with doors,
      When it burst forth and issued from the womb;
 When I made the clouds its garment,
      And thick darkness its swaddling band,
  When I fixed My limit for it,
      And set bars and doors;
  When I said,
     ‘This far you may come, but no farther,
      And here your proud waves must stop!’
  “Have you commanded the morning since your days began,
      And caused the dawn to know its place,
  That it might take hold of the ends of the earth,
      And the wicked be shaken out of it?
  It takes on form like clay under a seal,
      And stands out like a garment.
  From the wicked their light is withheld,
      And the upraised arm is broken.
  “Have you entered the springs of the sea?
      Or have you walked in search of the depths?
  Have the gates of death been revealed to you?
      Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
  Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth?
      Tell Me, if you know all this.
  “Where is the way to the dwelling of light?
      And darkness, where is its place,
  That you may take it to its territory,
      That you may know the paths to its home?
  Do you know it, because you were born then,
      Or because the number of your days is great?
  “Have you entered the treasury of snow,
      Or have you seen the treasury of hail,
  Which I have reserved for the time of trouble,
      For the day of battle and war?
  By what way is light diffused,
      Or the east wind scattered over the earth?
  “Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water,
      Or a path for the thunderbolt,
  To cause it to rain on a land where there is no one,
      A wilderness in which there is no man;
  To satisfy the desolate waste,
      And cause to spring forth the growth of tender grass?
  Has the rain a father?
      Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
  From whose womb comes the ice?
      And the frost of heaven, who gives it birth?
  The waters harden like stone,
      And the surface of the deep is frozen.
  “Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades,
      Or loose the belt of Orion?
  Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season?
      Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?
  Do you know the ordinances of the heavens?
      Can you set their dominion over the earth?
  “Can you lift up your voice to the clouds,
      That an abundance of water may cover you?
  Can you send out lightnings, that they may go,
      And say to you, ‘Here we are!’?
  Who has put wisdom in the mind?
      Or who has given understanding to the heart?
  Who can number the clouds by wisdom?
      Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven,
  When the dust hardens in clumps,
      And the clods cling together?
  “Can you hunt the prey for the lion,
      Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,
  When they crouch in their dens,
      Or lurk in their lairs to lie in wait?
  Who provides food for the raven,
      When its young ones cry to God,
      And wander about for lack of food?
                Job 38

Saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
                Revelation 14:7

When He made a law for the rain, and a path for the thunderbolt,
                Job 28:26

 “Do you know the time when the wild mountain goats bear young?
      Or can you mark when the deer gives birth?
 Can you number the months that they fulfill?
      Or do you know the time when they bear young?
 They bow down,
      They bring forth their young,
      They deliver their offspring.
 Their young ones are healthy,
      They grow strong with grain;
      They depart and do not return to them.
 “Who set the wild donkey free?
      Who loosed the bonds of the onager,
 Whose home I have made the wilderness,
      And the barren land his dwelling?
 He scorns the tumult of the city;
      He does not heed the shouts of the driver.
 The range of the mountains is his pasture,
      And he searches after every green thing.
 “Will the wild ox be willing to serve you?
      Will he bed by your manger?
  Can you bind the wild ox in the furrow with ropes?
      Or will he plow the valleys behind you?
  Will you trust him because his strength is great?
      Or will you leave your labor to him?
  Will you trust him to bring home your grain,
      And gather it to your threshing floor?
  “The wings of the ostrich wave proudly,
      But are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork’s?
  For she leaves her eggs on the ground,
      And warms them in the dust;
  She forgets that a foot may crush them,
      Or that a wild beast may break them.
  She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers;
      Her labor is in vain, without concern,
  Because God deprived her of wisdom,
      And did not endow her with understanding.
  When she lifts herself on high,
      She scorns the horse and its rider.
  “Have you given the horse strength?
      Have you clothed his neck with thunder?
  Can you frighten him like a locust?
      His majestic snorting strikes terror.
  He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength;
      He gallops into the clash of arms.
  He mocks at fear, and is not frightened;
      Nor does he turn back from the sword.
  The quiver rattles against him,
      The glittering spear and javelin.
  He devours the distance with fierceness and rage;
      Nor does he come to a halt because the trumpet has sounded.
  At the blast of the trumpet he says, ‘Aha!’
      He smells the battle from afar,
      The thunder of captains and shouting.
  “Does the hawk fly by your wisdom,
      And spread its wings toward the south?
  Does the eagle mount up at your command,
      And make its nest on high?
  On the rock it dwells and resides,
      On the crag of the rock and the stronghold.
  From there it spies out the prey;
      Its eyes observe from afar.
  Its young ones suck up blood;
      And where the slain are, there it is.
                Job 39

 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,
      Measured heaven with a span
      And calculated the dust of the earth in a measure?
      Weighed the mountains in scales
      And the hills in a balance?
                Isaiah 40:12

   It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
      And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
      Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
      And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
        He brings the princes to nothing;
      He makes the judges of the earth useless.
        Scarcely shall they be planted,
      Scarcely shall they be sown,
      Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth,
      When He will also blow on them,
      And they will wither,
      And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble.
      “ To whom then will you liken Me,
      Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One.
      Lift up your eyes on high,
      And see who has created these things,
      Who brings out their host by number;
      He calls them all by name,
      By the greatness of His might
      And the strength of His power;
      Not one is missing.
                Isaiah 40:22-26

His lightnings light the world;The earth sees and trembles.
                Psalm 97:4

He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries.
                Psalm 135:7

When He utters His voice, There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: “And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of His treasuries.”
                Jeremiah 10:13

He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes;
                Psalm 147:16

For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.
                Psalm 50:10

He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and vegetation for the service of man, that he may bring forth food from the earth
                Psalm 104:14
